Another great Chungking Story...

I'm slowly becoming more and more interested in this project. There is a really good story here about the Chungking Mansions, calling it a "beacon and not a hellhole".

He mensions a professor that has been doing research on the place. Gordon Mathews, professor of anthropology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Here is his webpage:

He pretty much just stayed in the hostels 3 days a week (as I will be doing but for entire weeks) and studied the different cultures. It would be of my interesest to find this:
